The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) results were announced, with Suryakanta Prusty and Brahmananda Moharana topping the MBA and MCA courses. Sagarika Dash secured the first rank in BPharm.

BHUBANESWAR: The Skill Development and Technical Education Department published the results of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) on Monday. The examination was conducted for 23 technical and professional UG and PG courses. A total of 56,000 students received rank cards in the OJEE.
Suryakanta Prusty and Brahmananda Moharana topped the MBA and MCA courses, respectively, while Sagarika Dash received the first rank in BPharm.The OJEE also published the toppers of 11 MTech courses.
Sagarika, a resident of Cuttack, mentioned that she was simultaneously preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the OJEE. She was taking help from a coaching center for preparation. “I have done very well in the medical entrance test too. If I get a good rank in NEET, I will opt for medical education,” she added.
Suryakanta, a native of Baripada, who has completed his bachelor’s degree in commerce, said he was preparing for the OJEE at home by taking help from books and YouTube videos. “I am happy that I topped the exam. It will help me to get a good educational institution in the state to take admission in an MBA course. We have our transport business. I will make a career in business and also take forward our family business,” he added.
Brahmananda Moharana, a native of Niali in Cuttack district, said he wanted to pursue his higher education in computer science. “I have applied for the entrance test for the MCA course after completing my bachelor’s degree in computer science. As I topped the exam, it will be easy for me to get a good university to take admission in MCA/MSc (computer science),” he added. Moharana, the son of a carpenter, was preparing for the OJEE by himself. He was using the internet to watch lectures and other educational videos for preparation.

This year, a total of 65,742 candidates registered for the examination, while 56,047 candidates (85.25 percent) appeared for the test. Out of these, 56,000 candidates have been allotted ranks in their corresponding courses as per their performance in the examination, said the OJEE official statement.
The entrance exam was conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode for 23 courses. The exam was conducted between May 6 and May 10 at 57 test centers in 30 districts of the state and three centers outside the state (Kolkata, Ranchi, and Patna).
“All the candidates, who have been awarded ranks, can take part in the OJEE counseling for admission into different technical/professional courses in government and private colleges/institutes of Odisha corresponding to their rank and other qualifying criteria,” said DP Satapathy, OJEE chairman.
