SSC CHSL 2024 Tier I exam: Check important topics to revise

SSC CHSL 2024 Tier I exam: The Staff Selection Commission will hold the SSC CHSL exam 2024 from July 1 to July 11, 2024, at the designated exam centers. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE).
The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam is structured into four key sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness.
The General Intelligence & Reasoning section examines your analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and logical thinking. This part of the exam may include questions on analogies, syllogisms, series completion, coding-decoding, and blood relations, among other topics. The objective is to assess how well you can understand and apply logical principles to various problems.
Quantitative Aptitude focuses on your basic mathematical skills and ability to manage numerical data. It covers a wide range of topics such as arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), percentages, averages, ratio & proportion, algebra, geometry, and basic trigonometry. This section is crucial for evaluating your numerical accuracy and speed.
The English Language section evaluates your command of the English language. Questions in this section may pertain to grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, synonyms & antonyms, sentence completion, error spotting, and para jumbles. The goal here is to test your understanding and usage of English in various contexts.
General Awareness tests your knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, civics, science, economics, and other general knowledge topics relevant to India. This section aims to gauge how well-informed you are about the world around you, especially in relation to national and international events.


In the Quantitative Aptitude section, the following topics are frequently tested: Data Interpretation (3 to 5 questions), Algebra (3 to 4 questions), Geometry (2 to 3 questions), Mensuration (2 to 4 questions), Trigonometry (2-3 questions), and Arithmetic (10 questions) including subtopics such as Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Interest, Speed Time & Distance, Time & Work, Percentages, Number System, and Average.
The General Intelligence & Reasoning section typically includes questions on Analogy (4-6 questions), Classification (4-5 questions), Series (4-5 questions), Coding-Decoding (1-2 questions), Word Building (2-3 questions), and Direction and Distances (1-2 questions). The most scoring topics in this section often include Seating Arrangements, Statement and Conclusions, Data Sufficiency, Reasoning Analogies, and Order & Ranking.
The English section of SSC CHSL is quite similar to that of the SSC CGL exam. You can expect to encounter topics such as Reading Comprehension/Cloze Test, Vocabulary Section, and Grammar. Specific areas that may be tested include Reading Comprehension, Phrase Replacement, Spotting errors, One Word Substitutions, and Adjective Degree of Comparison Rules.
The General Awareness section's difficulty and topics are aligned with the Higher Secondary (10+2) level. To do well, you need to stay updated with the past six months of current affairs and recent events. The types of questions you can expect include History, Geography, General Policy, Scientific Research, and Current Affairs. This section tests your knowledge across a broad range of subjects including History, Culture, Geography, Economics, Polity, Science, and Scientific Research.
