AGARTALA: The state unit of Congress on Monday released its manifesto for the ensuing Tripura election. Congress is putting up a joint fight with the Left Front, which has released a separate manifesto.
Senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman said if the party wins, it would be committed to establishing the rule of law with zero tolerance for crimes against women.

The party promised free medical treatment for the poor, setting up a strong Lokayukta to prevent corruption and launching investigations into the allegations of corruption reported in the last five years, Rs 50,000 to women belonging to BPL families for their marriage. The free electric supply of up to 150 units to each household will be ensured by plugging power tapping and transmission loss. This apart, 14 essential items would be provided under PDS, employment opportunities would be created for at least 50,000 people, read the manifesto.
