Helmed by Shieladitya Moulik, ‘Surjo’ is an upcoming Bengali film that claims to narrate the weirdest love story of the year. ‘Surjo’ stars Vikram Chatterjee in the titular character, and has Madhumita Sarcar and Darshana Banik in vital roles. After the motion poster and teaser, the much-anticipated trailer of the film is out now.
The trailer of ‘Surjo’ opens with Madhumita’s character in the film deciding to resign from an unsatisfactory job to pursue her calling.
She lands in the lap of nature and finds herself in a room filled with multiple paintings. Who is artist behind all those paintings? Her search begins. The search leads her to a man who has been saviour, a source of joy and sunshine. He is Surjo. The one, who magically appears by your side when you’re in need. But you seek him out, he disappears again! Will he ever let himself be found?
‘Surjo’ delves into the story of that’s enriched with mystery, happiness, tenderness and love.
The motion poster and teaser of ‘Surjo’ were released last month. The motion poster of ‘Surjo’ featured Madhumita along with Vikram. The duo was seen at the back of a truck on a highway. Vikram shared the motion poster on his social media profile with the caption, “All love is not blind. This love has its tinted goggles on. This love sees the world in technicolour!” It was evident from the poster that the film encompasses a journey that is full of adventures and experiences.
‘Surjo’, directed by Shieladitya Moulik, is adapted from the well-known Malayalam film ‘Charlie’. ‘Charlie’, that starred Dulquer Salmaan, Parvathy, Aparna Gopinath and others, released in 2015,. The film shows separate journeys of Tessa (played by Parvathy), Charlie (played by Dulquer Salmaan) and Kani (played by Aparna Gopinath) and how they cross each other’s path only to leave lasting impact. In ‘Surjo’, Vikram will be taking over the role of Charlie, as Surjo. Madhumita will be seen portraying Tessa and Darshana will essay Kani in the film.
‘Surjo’ is produced by ‘Innovative Films’ and the film will have a theatrical release this year on July 19.
