The mythological and sci-fi action drama released worldwide on June 27 in six languages and has crossed Rs 714 crore at the worldwide box office. According to Economic Times, Amazon Prime will stream 'Kalki 2898 AD' in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions with English subtitles and Netflix will offer the Hindi version of 'Kalki 2898 AD' with English subtitles.According to reports, the initial plan was to release the film on digital platforms by late July. However, it is now being suggested that 'Kalki 2898 AD' will be available on streaming platforms in the second week of September. The movie’s run showing at the box office has reportedly prompted the producers to prolong its theatrical run.
'Kalki 2898 AD' is among the costliest Indian films ever produced, reportedly mounted on a budget of Rs 600 crore. The film is expected to mint over Rs 1000 crore by the end of its theatrical run. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, 'Kalki 2898 AD' features a stellar lineup including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas. Also starring in the film are Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee, and Shobhana. .
While 'Kalki 2898 AD' is undeniably a spectacle blending myth and reality, director Nag Ashwin has hinted that the sequel will explore even more ambitious themes. He had told Variety, "Every loose end or thread that we left hanging has to be wrapped up. Obviously, the most important thing will be the face-off between these three, which will be between Yaskin who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna and Ashwatthama, who are the most fearsome warriors.”
