Antaraa Bhataacharya turns lyricist and composer for her debut Hindi indie single

Kolkata girl Antaraa Bhataacharya, trained under Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, is known for her work in films like , , and . Now, the young singer is all set to showcase her versatility in her debut indie single . She has written, composed and lent her voice to the song.
For a fact, the month of May has been special to the musician. Apart from the release of her debut Hindi indie single, the singer has also contributed to another music album, which is a fitting tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his 163rd birth anniversary.The latter brings forth a modern twist to the traditional Rabindra Sangeet through a unique and memorable musical journey.
Antaraa, who’s a member of Bollywood composer Pritam’s team, never thought she would turn into a music composer. However, one morning, while doing her , she came up with a new tune and recorded it. Soon, she found herself composing the antara and then, she even wrote the lyrics in a jiffy. “I shared it with Nikhil and he truly liked it. Then I made the whole song and wrote the lyrics,” said the singer, who was born and brought up in Ichhapur, West Bengal.
For any singer, it is indeed a moment of pride and prestige to receive training from the legendary Pt Ajoy Chakraborty. Antaraa has also received training from Rathijit Bhattacharya.
When asked about today's trend of remixing old songs and giving it a new twist both in Bollywood and Bengal, the singer said, "I think this is a great initiative to remix the old songs with a new flavour. It might not be the same as the old one but it definitely gives a different flavour to the song,” said Antaraa with a smile.
Talking about her working experience with Pritam, the singer said, “I was a part of Pritam da’s chorus team. The background score of Brahmastra was a huge task and I am happy to be a part of that. I have learnt many things working on it,” she said.
It goes without saying that Antaraa has a strong connection with the Bengali music fraternity. Having worked with musicians like Savvy, Ssuvam Moitra and Arindom, Antaraa now wants to work with senior composer Indraadip Das Gupta. “His songs are pure nostalgia to me and I am looking forward to working with him. It’s been my childhood dream,” she said. And she added how her parents have been the biggest supporters all through her musical journey. "Whatever I'm today is because of my parents," Antaraa concluded.
