Gladiator 2: Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal battle it out in FIRST LOOK

Director Ridley Scott is set to return with the sequel to his Oscar-winning film 'Gladiator' this November. The director on Monday, treated fans to interesting first-look photos from the film that gave us a peek at the fim's lead stars and their characters in the upcoming historical drama.
According to the newly revealed plot details, Connie Nielsen returns as Lucilla in this sequel set years after the events of the original film.
Paul Mescal features as her son, Lucius, who returns to Rome amid new political turmoil. As Lucius grapples with resentment towards his mother, for being sent away to Numidia, on Africa's northern coast, for his protection, he must also take on the political landscape which has shifted under the reign of Emperor Caracalla (Fred Hechinger) and Emperor Geta (Joseph Quinn).




Mescal's character finds himself drawn back into conflict when a Roman contingency led by Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal), who trained under Maximus (Russell Crowe), invades the region. Variety reports that a bloody feud between Lucius and Acacius lies at the heart of the story. The first photos from the film see the two battling it out in the arena.

Adding to the intrigue to this mix was Denzel Washington's character, Macrinus, who will reportedly play the role of a Roman powerbroker and arms dealer.

The sequel, with its star-studded cast is among the highly anticipated films of the year.
