'Kalki 2898 AD' box office collection day 9: The Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone starrer inches closer to Rs 500 crore
v'Kalki 2898 AD' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone had released in theatres on June 27 and had a grand opening. The film has continued to see an upward growth since then, through positive word of mouth. Though, there's also been some bit of criticism for the film, however, it has managed to stay steady at the box office.
According to Sacnilk, the total collection of the first 8 days in all languages is around Rs 414.85 crore.
On Day 9, which is Friday, the film made Rs 17.25 crore of which, a business of around Rs 9 crore came from the Hindi market. So far, the total collection in all languages on the first 9 days in India is Rs 432 crore.
Kalki 2898 AD has not faced any major competition this week. As the film was holding well at the box office, the trade, ixhibitors and distributors had requested the makers of 'Auron Mein Kya Dum Tha' to postpone their release from July 5. Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer has been pushed then, so 'Kalki 2898 AD' did not face any major competition.
'Kill' has released on Friday but it's a niche, violent film which may obviously not bring in audience to the the theatres in large numbers. Now that this weekend, there is no World Cup match, as it ended last weekend, the Saturday and Sunday numbers are expected to be higher for 'Kalki'. But we shall have to wait and watch how the film performs.
Meanwhile, amid the criticism also around the film, director Nag Ashwin urged fans to go to the theatres and celebrate Indian culture and cinema this weekend!
