Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta were beloved on-screen partners in Bengal since the 1990s. Earlier this month, these stalwarts of Bengali cinema celebrated their 50th film together with 'Ajogyo.'
At 61 years old, Chatterjee has been in the industry since 1983. Acting alongside Sengupta gives him confidence in a film, knowing audiences adore their partnership.
Despite his 40-year career and her 30-year tenure, their on-screen chemistry remains beloved and has become legendary in Bengal.

Reflecting on their long collaboration, Chatterjee recalls that Sengupta was quite young when they began working together on 'Nagpanchami' (1994). He takes pride in the enduring popularity of their older commercial films, noting high YouTube views for their songs even among today's youth.

Highlighting the significance of a good co-actor, Chatterjee, praised for his role as Mr Roy in the 2023 web series 'Jubilee,' emphasized that a film's success isn't solely dependent on one person. He noted how some actors leave the set once their scene is done, whereas he prefers to stay, give cues, and rehearse scenes. Chatterjee underscored that believable performances require collaboration among all involved, describing it as the magic of cinema where every unit contributes to the whole.
Chatterjee and the 53-year-old Sengupta have starred in numerous successful films over the years. Some of their most iconic collaborations include 'Sasurbari Zindabad' (2000), 'Utsab' (2000), 'Jamaibabu Zindabad' (2001), and 'Praktan' (2016).
