Saiyami Kher reveals big filmmakers appreciated her role in 'Ghoomer' but did not offer more films: 'No one signed me on for anything'

Saiyami Kher, who made her Bollywood debut with the 2016 film 'Mirzya,' has garnered critical acclaim for her performances over the years. However, despite the appreciation from renowned filmmakers, she reveals that this recognition has not translated into substantial film offers.
In an interview with India Today, Saiyami discussed her career trajectory, mentioning her roles in films like 'Choked,' 'Ghoomer,' and the recently released 'Sharmajee Ki Beti.' Despite receiving praise for her work, she expressed her disappointment that no significant opportunities have followed.
"I got a lot of appreciation from the biggest of the filmmakers, but sadly, no one signed me on for anything," she said.
Saiyami shared her hope that the admiration she receives will eventually lead to more roles. "I hope to be a part of these filmmakers' vision and their films," she added. She acknowledged the support from directors like Anurag Kashyap, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, R. Balki, and Neeraj Pandey, who have trusted her with substantial roles. Yet, she remains eager for more opportunities. "I am greedy, and I wish that I was offered more roles, more meaty ones," Saiyami stated.
Despite her gratitude for the roles she has received, Saiyami admitted that her choices are limited. "To be very honest, I don't have so much to choose from. So, I choose from what comes my way," she explained. She remains optimistic about showcasing her skills in a broader range and variety of roles.
For her role in 'Ghoomer,' Saiyami undertook extensive preparation, starting six months in advance to authentically portray a para-athlete. She described her commitment to her craft, including living the life of her character during filming and writing letters to her characters to create detailed backstories.
