Shabana Azmi reveals how Honey Irani was ‘bitter' when Javed Akhtar had an affair with her

Javed and Honey married in 1972 and have two children, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. Although they divorced in 1984, they continued to co-parent their children. Soon after the divorce, Javed married Shabana Azmi.
Now, Shabana has admitted that Honey Irani was ‘bitter’ when the affair began but showed the maturity to never poison her kids against Javed and her.
During her conversation with Arbaaz Khan on his chat show, Shabana shared that Javed diligently worked on rebuilding his relationship with Honey, and now they are as close as ever. She expressed happiness about having a beautiful relationship with Zoya and Farhan, crediting Honey for it.
Shabana added that Honey could have easily taken the children away when they were young but instead, she encouraged them to maintain a relationship with their father and her.
Shabana explained that in the beginning, she kept her distance and didn’t try to force a relationship. She expressed admiration for Honey, acknowledging that the generosity came from her. Today, Shabana mentioned that they have a very good relationship with Honey as well. She noted that Honey has the confidence to call Javed in the middle of the night if she needs something, and he would come to her aid.
The senior actress stated that all three of them deserve credit for the maturity they’ve shown, but Honey deserves special appreciation. They agreed that there should be no bitterness involved. Although Honey initially felt very bitter and rejected, Javed persevered in mending their relationship. Shabana expressed pride in the positive outcome that resulted from their efforts.
