AR Rahman's cool new band
On Thursday, band members of the supergroup, SuperHeavy — rockers Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, soul singer Joss Stone, reggae artist Damian Marley and composer AR Rahman — gave a sneak preview of their highly anticipated upcoming album at the Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles.
The musicians spoke a bit about the album too, revealing that they had recorded 29 songs in 10 days.
They also played one of the seven tracks called ‘Miracle Worker,’ a video for which was shot on Wednesday. While most of the tracks contain mix and match elements from multiple cultures, such as Indian film music, reggae, blues, soul music and a dose of Jagger-style funk.
After the event, Joss Stone said in a separate interview that they would wait to see the reaction to the album after it is released on September 20 before determining what the next step for the band will be. Stone intends to tour the US in early 2012 in support of her upcoming ‘LP1’ and “by then, fingers crossed, if the world likes SuperHeavy, we’ll do some shows,” she said.
