About BabyMonster
BabyMonster, also known as Baemon, is a South Korean girl group managed by YG Entertainment. Comprising seven members - Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita - the group made their debut on November 27, 2023, with the single "Batter Up".
YG Entertainment, renowned for its previous girl groups 2NE1 (2009) and Blackpink (2016), began hinting at the formation of their next girl group as early as 2018. Recruiting applicants from various countries, some as young as 10 years old, the label's training program typically spanned four to five years. Each member stood out among thousands in their auditions. In January 2020, the names "BabyMonster" and "Baemon," initially considered for Blackpink, were trademarked in both English and Korean by YG Entertainment. Media outlets tentatively used these names until the official unveiling of the group's identity.
BABYMONSTER's journey has been exceptional, from their debut introduction by YG Entertainment to the success of their pre-debut single "Dream," which topped charts. Their rapid growth on YouTube, becoming the fastest K-pop girl group to hit one million subscribers, reflects their global popularity and dedicated fan base.
