I couldn’t have asked for a better time to start my career: Brinda Acharya
Brinda Acharya, who made her debut with the 2021 Kannada romance-drama Premam Poojyam, says she’s currently juggling a busy schedule with four new projects — Bank of Bhagyalakshmi, X & Y, Ondsala Meet Madana and Sathya Son of Harishchandra. “I couldn’t have asked for a better time to start my career. The scripts that are being written these days are so powerful, and to breathe life into them with my performances is a fantastic opportunity,” she says.

‘The ability to transform into someone new makes acting so special’
Juggling multiple projects can be challenging, but the moment I realise I have a shoot in the morning, I start shifting into a positive mental space. And once I don the attire of a character, I fully get into their skin and immerse myself into that role. This is the beauty of being an actor that no other profession offers.
‘More female-oriented scripts is a welcome trend’
I’ve been particularly fortunate to land strong female-driven scripts early on in my career with projects like Juliet 2 and Kousalya Supraja Rama. This is a trend I’d love to see continue. It’s fantastic that more and more directors are experimenting with female-oriented scripts nowadays; but commercial success for these films is crucial. That’ll encourage creators to explore these strong narratives.

It’s incredible to see that more and more directors are experimenting with female-oriented scripts nowadays

‘Newcomers are treated equally in the Kannada film industry
Having worked with experienced actors such as Duniya Vijay and Nirup Bhandari, I can tell you the best thing about the Kannada film industry is the treatment of newcomers. There’s no discrimination here. Experienced actors give us valuable feedback to improve and polish our skills. This not only helps us grow as actors but also instills the confidence to have a long career in the industry.
