'Prakashante Metro' movie review highlights : Mediocrity at it's best
Directed by debutant director Haseena Suneer, Prakashante Metro is written by Mithran. With Prakashante Metro, Haseena Suneer, a homemaker and mother of two, turns filmmaker with just a short film in her credit. However, the story of her film comes from a real-life incident narrated to the director by a woman she met, and then peppered with cinematic elements.
Prakashan, an unscrupulous autorickshaw driver, finds a young woman looking for a ride in search of an Anwar Sultan.
Although furtive and sly in his own ways, Prakashan decides to help the girl, a damsel in distress, to find her friend and savior - Anwar Sultan. But not without obstacles. Their often hilarious and otherwise adventurous search for Anwar Sultan forms the story of Prakashante Metro.
The film is a celebration of mediocrity. Everything from the story, direction, cinematography, music and to acting is a testimony to it.
Dinesh Prabhakar is a seasoned artist, and it shows. Saju Navodaya, better known by his stage name Pashanam Shaji, gives us some over the top "comedy", the kind that he is quite known for. Angha Janaki is the perfect damsel in distress. She does nothing but cry and seem helpless.
As the first half closes, amidst much chaotic humour, Prakashan's auto that he fondly calls Metro is his only companion at navigating Prakashan's way out of the mess he and his rider, the young woman have got themselves into.
