Khushbu Sundar says she loves to make films like 'Darlings' and 'Badhaai Ho': 'But we don’t have that kind of audience in South India'
Actress Khushbu Sundar's recent production venture 'Aranmanai 4' crossed Rs 100 crore, and the actress-turned-producer shared her interest in doing films like 'Darlings', 'Badhaai Ho', and 'Crew'. Khushbu says that she is not the kind of producer who would make only women-centric films.
According to her, there is no such multiplex audience in South India as yet.
In an interview with PTI, she added that it is going to take some time. When 'Badhaai Ho' was made in Tamil, it didn't work. 'Aranmanai 4' is directed by her husband Sundar C. Khushbu Sundar made her debut as a child artist in the Hindi film 'The Burning Train'.
As a producer, she makes sure of how women are represented in her movies. She never wants to show women in a bad light. It's not fine to show that a woman is okay being in an abusive relationship and it's part of life. She's not going to advocate that. Otherwise, she loves making commercial films. She does not want to make a preachy film. Khushbu has spent almost four decades in the industry, and she is happy to see women coming forward and doing more commercially viable projects in the industry.

The actress mentioned that there is a huge shift in the kind of films being made. There are still a lot of heroes where all think that the films are being sold only on a hero's name and heroine can play a very minuscule role in the film. She regards it as remarkable that women can lead a film single-handedly and still achieve success, emphasizing that there's no requirement for a male co-star to make a hit. She believes the content itself is the primary driving force behind a film's success, applauding this significant shift in perspective.
