With polling day set for May 7, Ahmedabad East constituency braces itself for a high-stakes showdown between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), led by Hasmukhbhai Somabhai Patel and Himmatsinh patel respectively.

In the electoral chronicles of the Ahmedabad East parliamentary constituency, the years 2014 and 2019 epitomize the essence of democratic fervor and the fluctuating tides of political fortunes.
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, a substantial total of 1,811,851 electors exercised their democratic right, indicating a notable increase from the 1,601,832 electors recorded in 2014. This surge in voter participation underscored the electorate's growing involvement in shaping the political landscape of Ahmedabad East.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in both elections, with distinct figures leading the charge. In 2014, the celebrated actor Paresh Rawal clinched the MP seat, while in 2019, Patel Hasmukhbhai Somabhai took the reins, continuing the BJP's dominance in the constituency.
In 2014, Paresh Rawal's victory was significant, securing a commendable 633,582 votes. His Indian National Congress (INC) counterpart, Patel Himmatsingh Prahladsingh, trailed behind, albeit with a considerable gap, reflecting the BJP's stronghold in the region.
Fast forward to 2019, Patel Hasmukhbhai Somabhai's electoral triumph was noteworthy, securing an impressive 749,834 votes. Gitaben Patel from the INC stood second with 315,504 votes, indicating the enduring presence of both political parties in the electoral fray.
The margin of victory in 2019 was striking, with Patel Hasmukhbhai Somabhai clinching victory by a substantial margin of 434,330 votes. This landslide triumph reaffirmed the BJP's stronghold in Ahmedabad East and the resonance of its candidate with the electorate.
