CID asks Karnataka ex-CM BSY to face probe team in Pocso case

BENGALURU: CID has summoned former Karnataka CM and senior BJP politician BS Yediyurappato appear before its investigation team for questioning related to a Pocso case filed against him, sources said Wednesday.
Yediyurappa (81), currently in Delhi, is expected to participate in the investigation on his return, said sources close to him.
According to police reports, Yediyurappa has been charged under Pocso Act and IPC Section 354-A (sexual harassment).The case was registered based on a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who alleged Yediyurappa had sexually assaulted her daughter during a Feb 2 meeting this year.
On March 14, shortly after cops registered the FIR, Karnataka DGP Alok Mohan issued an order transferring the case to CID. The 54-year-old woman who had accused Yediyurappa died at a hospital in Bengaluru in May due to an illness.
Yediyurappa has denied the allegations and said he would fight the case legally.
