NEW DELHI: Opposition's work is to criticise and they are doing it, but the fact remains a stable govt is in place, said Rashtriya Lok Dal leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jayant Chaudhary, while taking charge as minister of state (independent charge) of ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship and MoS education on Tuesday. Chaudhary also said big responsibilities have been entrusted on him and he will work honestly towards PM Narendra Modi's vision of a developed nation.
Chaudhary, grandson of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh and son of Ajit Singh, a prominent political figure in western Uttar Pradesh, took oath as minister of state (independent charge) in Modi's third council of ministers.
He has been actively involved in politics since 2009.
Having entered his office in Kaushal Bhavan for the first time, Chaudhary held up the white towel often seen on chairs in govt offices and asked, "Tell me honestly where did this towel tradition come from," resulting in laughter among officials. Speaking to the media after taking charge of the skill development ministry, he said: "It's a big responsibility, which I was not expecting. I promise to work with honesty and dedication."
