Does fate and destiny determine our life's purpose?

Whatever you have sown in your past life is precisely what you will reap in this life. Thus, destiny is pre-determined from your past life. As your current karmas unfold in this life simultaneously you are binding new karmas for your next life.
If you respond to a conflict (e.g. an argument with a member of your family) by retaliating with further animosity and revengeful intent, this will only sow bad karma for your next life.If, however, you settled the conflict and apologized, good karma will take effect in your next life. Thus our intents of this life binds karma for the next life that materialize and come into fruition, which is called destiny. It may take many years for it to mature, perhaps fifty, seventy-five, even a hundred years. Everything that we experience is as a result of our karmas. Karmas can be in the form of punya(merit) or paap(demerit). Let’s understand the meaning of karma from the scientific viewpoint. Read:
This is why during this life, you should not waste even a single second but instead strive to live it to ensure that you do not sow bad karmas for your next life – both in your conduct and also in your reaction to the effects of karmas unfolding.

There is a need for good intentions within. Good karmas can only be done if one’s destiny is good. However, good intentions can be made, even without good destiny!
Hence, it is in your power to determine the destiny for your next life.
So how should you conduct yourself in this life?
Let no living being be hurt even to the slightest extent through your mind, speech and body.
Live this life for the purpose of others – help others (apart from your immediate family) in any way possible.
Change your inner intent – keep it positive and see others faultless.
Everyone you meet should leave happily.
Treat others in a way you want yourself to be treated.
Avoid conflicts at all costs and try to reconcile them as much as possible.
Such a conduct, in your next life, you will reap punya and your destiny will be the one filled with happiness and abundance. However, this does not stop the endless cycle of birth and rebirth. For every de-merit karma you have bound, you will have to suffer its consequences separately, it does not get deducted from the punya karmas.
Ultimately, your purpose should be to gain liberation by realizing your true Self - your Soul.
Life after life you keep charging karmas which themselves perpetuate your reincarnated life after life existence. Even if you lived a life, sowing merit karma you still will not be able to attain liberation (the termination of the endless cycle of birth and rebirth).
To gain liberation you need to cease charging karmas – good or bad. This can only be achieved by knowing your true Self – your Soul as distinct from your body. Once you know who you really are then you will experience permanent inner bliss.
