Microsoft has finally addressed the security flaw found within the Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. The tech giant has rolled out a new update for both the PC operating systems that includes a fix for the bug that when exploited could allow access to data and remote attacks.
Last week, The Register, reported the security vulnerability within Windows 11 and Windows 10 that could put PCs running these operating systems at risk when connected to the public Wi-Fi network.
It is advisable to update your Windows PCs running either of the two operating systems immediately. That’s because Microsoft has labelled this vulnerability as “important”. It is to be noted that this is the company’s second-highest severity rating for security vulnerabilities.
According to the report, the vulnerability CVE-2024-30078 could allow hackers to deploy a malicious packet to devices on the same Wi-Fi network in public places like airports, coffee shops, hotels, or workplaces. This exploit enables hackers to remotely execute commands and gain system access without user interaction or authentication.
