WhatsApp rolling out a new privacy feature for iPhone users: Here’s what it is
It was recently reported that WhatsApp is developing a feature which will block users from taking screenshots of profile photos. Now, a new report by WABetaInfo reveals that the instant messaging app has started rolling out the ability to block screenshots of profile photos for iPhone users.
The feature to block screenshots of profile photos is presently available for iOS beta testers and can be accessed in version number 24.12.10.74 of the app.
“This feature is designed to enhance user privacy and mitigate the risks associated with the unauthorised sharing and distribution of personal images,” mentions the report.
WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of the new feature. According to the shared image, taking screenshots of profile photos is now blocked to protect everyone's privacy on WhatsApp.
This feature provides an added layer of privacy protection by preventing users from capturing and sharing profile photos without the owner's consent. While it is acknowledged that individuals might still use other devices or cameras to capture images, blocking the screenshot function within the app will significantly reduce unauthorised sharing of profile photos.
WhatsApp Business gets new AI features
At its Conversations event in Sao Paulo, Meta announced expanded AI features for businesses on WhatsApp. These new tools aim to enhance user experience by helping people find the information, products, and services they need directly within the WhatsApp chat.
The updated AI features on WhatsApp will improve product accessibility for businesses and assist users in locating the right products and services. According to the official blog post, the new AI capabilities will enable businesses to quickly respond to user inquiries.
Moreover, WhatsApp has integrated AI tools for creating ads to run on Instagram or Facebook. These tools will also remind businesses to follow up with customers who are waiting for a response. For instance, businesses can use AI to remind customers who have left items in their cart or to notify them about ongoing offers or discounts on desired products.
