Apple’s official website states that Apple iPhones are designed to operate best at 0° to 35° C (32° to 95° F) ambient temperatures. Anything above this can damage the battery capacity permanently. This means, users can feel reduced battery life and battery health.
Chances are that the software may also limit the maximum charging to 80 per cent when the iPhone is running at temperatures above the recommended range which is up to 35 degrees. Apple also clarifies that storing the iPhone for longer intervals in adverse weather conditions can damage the battery beyond repair.
This applies to cold environments as well. According to the company, users can experience reduced performance from the battery. However, this condition, in case of a cold environment, is temporary and the battery will regain its health and return to normal orerating range when the temperature becomes normal again.
