Karnataka: Group of men barge in hotel, assault interfaith couple, two arrested

Hanagal police arrested two individuals on Wednesday in connection with a moral policing case that occurred on Monday. Superintendent Anshu Kumar of Haveri stated that a person had rented a room in a lodge and was staying with a woman from another community. A group of 5-6 people forcibly brought the duo out of the room, subsequently taking the woman alone to another location where she was assaulted before being dropped on the road. A lodge staff member filed a complaint on Wednesday morning, leading to the immediate arrest of Aftab Maqbool Ahmed Chandanakatti, 24, and Madarsab Mahmed Isaq Mandakki, 23, both residents of Akki Alur. The search for other accused is ongoing.
