Lock Upp: Payal Rohatgi comes out about becoming an alcoholic and having suicidal tendencies; reveals, “I was so sloshed, I’ve tried to cut my hand”

Payal Rohatgi’s secret revelations in Lock Upp has moved everyone inside and outside. Something similar happened in the latest episode when she opened up about the time when she became an alcoholic and had suicidal tendencies.
Being on the chargesheet, Payal was given an opportunity to reveal her secret before Kangana Ranaut announced the janta's decision. She chose to go ahead with the revelation and came out about the difficult phase of her life.
Payaldisclosed that during her previous reality show stint she got portrayed negatively, especially because of a love angle, which had a ‘detrimental’ effect on her life. As she opened her secret, Payal revealed that the negative fame that she got through the reality show made her get into alcohol abuse. She went on to share that she even had suicidal tendencies and tried to cut her hand.
“Wahan par ek love angle tha jo bahut detrimental tha meri life mein. Post that show, I got famous but I got famous negatively. People use tot think that I’m a side kick because uss show mein kisi ne bola tha kabhi mann kare to pizza khao kabhi mann kare to pao bhaji khao, so I became one of those types. I got heavily into drinking, I used to drink for 48 hours non-stop, and I was an alcoholic. Meri mummy ko nahi pata tha us samay, my father was separated. Maine itna alcohol piya hai un mahino mein, mujhe nahi pata hota tha ki din hoti thi raat hoti thi. I used to be on prescription drugs, I used to smoke. Aur main bhagwan ko bas itna bolti thi mujhe agar ek accha ladka mil jaye I will leave everything,” revealed Payal.
She went ahead and said, “I was so sloshed, I used to be suicidal, I’ve tried to cut my hand because tab main akeli rehti thi. That is why I don’t have friends since Sangram came into my life. Kyunki mera God ko promise tha the moment I get a nice man who doesn’t say kabhi bhukh lage to pao bhaji khao kabhi bhukh lage to pizza khao I will give it up. Uss beech mein main rehab mein bhi gayi thi and tried to get control over the situation. Main akeli gayi, mummy tabhi Ahemedabad mein thi mere brother unke sath the. Papa Delhi mein the, unko phone kiya ki papa I need you back please come back I’m having a nervous breakdown. I don’t want to die, I want to live but I’m not able to control because I was such a mess.”
Payal further shared, “My father also came back soon after a month or so and I met Sangram some months later. But there was this zone jahan par main rehab gayi, I stayed there for sometime. Waha par I was given prescription drugs…. I don’t like drugs which intoxicate in terms of cough syrup or anything. Yes, this is my secret and the world needs to know that why Payal builds a wall around herself, she doesn’t let anybody come close to her. Meri life mein jabse Sangram aaya hai I’ve not had a single friend. I don’t think anybody deserves that closeness.”
Payal Rohatgi broke down as she revealed her secret and shared how bad it feels to be called a ‘vamp’, a ‘villain’ always. Post her revelation, Kangana gave her note of advice to Payal and also said, “Payal, what I would like to say about your earlier experiences, you were the right contestant in the wrong place. Our show is not a house to house story. Here I am the host and we don’t portray anyone as a hero or a villain.”
