Die Europäische Union sieht sich für einen möglichen von US-Präsident Donald Trump angezettelten Handelskrieg gewappnet. Sie verfolgt die richtige Strategie, meint Alexander Graf Lambsdorff. "Europa muss verhindern, dass der von US-Präsident Trump gestartete Handelskrieg völlig eskaliert", sagt der FDP-Fraktionsvize. In Zeiten von Protektionismus und Populismus werde der Freihandel mehr denn je gebraucht, um Wachstum und Arbeitsplätze zu sichern. Auch FDP-Vizefraktionschef Michael Theurer sieht mögliche Gegenmaßnahmen der EU auf US-Strafzölle als letztes Mittel.
Anlässlich der heutigen Debatte (2. März) über das EU-Kanada-Handelsabkommen CETA im Deutschen Bundestag verweisen wir auf das noch ausstehende Urteil des Bundesverfassungsgerichts. Im Zuge der von Mehr Demokratie, Campact und foodwatch initiierten Bürgerklage "Nein zu CETA" haben wir zuletzt kritisiert, dass die Vorgaben des Bundesverfassungsgerichtes durch die Auslegungs- und Zusatzerklärungen zu CETA nicht vollständig erfüllt sind. Die Entscheidung im Hauptsacheverfahren, ob CETA grundgesetzkonform ist, muss das Gericht noch treffen.
In seiner ersten Rede im Deutschen Bundestag hat FDP-Abgeordneter Gerald Ullrich eine Lanze für die Ratifizierung des Wirtschafts- und Handelsabkommens CETA zwischen der EU und Kanada gebrochen. "Wenn wir Handelshemmnisse abzubauen, und gleichzeitig unsere hohen Standards bei Menschenrechten sowie Lebensmitteln und Umweltsicherheit als Rechtsgrundlage verteidigen, geben wir der Globalisierung gerechte Regeln. Das Freihandelsabkommen mit Kanada erreicht genau das."
Im Fokus der konstruktiven Oppositionsarbeit der FDP-Fraktion stehen diese Woche die Themen Digitalisierung der Wirtschaft, Freihandel und Maghreb-Staaten. Fraktionschef Christian Lindner stellt drei Initiativen vor, die die Freien Demokraten diese Woche einbringen werden. Heutzutage seien Software, Hardware und Smartphones nach fünf Jahren hoffnungslos veraltet, genau dies sei aber der steuerliche Abschreibungszeitraum. Die FDP-Fraktion wolle erreichen, dass digitale Wirtschaftsgüter künftig innerhalb von drei Jahren abgeschrieben werden könnten, erklärt Lindner. "Das beschleunigt die Investitionszyklen und stärkt die Innovationskraft in diesem digitalen Bereich von Mittelstand, freien Berufen und kleinen Gewerbetreibenden", betont er.
In Reaktion auf die Rede von Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel beim Weltwirtschaftsforum in Davos, fordert FDP-Fraktionsvize Alexander Graf Lambsdorff die unverzügliche Ratifizierung von CETA. “Kein Land ist so sehr auf offene Märkte angewiesen, wie der Exportweltmeister Deutschland.“ Es sei überfällig, dass die Bundeskanzlerin mehr als nur Lippenbekenntnisse zum Freihandel abgebe, so der Außenexperte. Eine sofortige Ratifizierung würde ein starkes Signal für den Freihandel und an die europäischen Partner senden.
Die Sondierungen sind bei Landwirtschaft und Verkehr ins Stocken geraten. Trotzdem geht es weiter mit den Themen Außenpolitik und Familie. Da sind vor allem Freihandel, die Verteidigungsausgaben und die Mütterrente strittig.
Die Unterhändler von Union, FDP und Grünen erwähnten das Thema fast nebenbei, zwischen diesem und jenen und im festen Bemühen, gute Laune zu verbreiten. Ein Detail allerdings ist die Handelspolitik in den Sondierungen für eine Jamaika-Koalition nicht – und auch die Nebenbei-Bemerkungen zeigen: Hier ist Streit noch programmiert.
