It is with immense pride and excitement that we welcome the grand opening of KFC’s 800th store in Australia, and Southern Restaurant’s 94th location. Whilst the opening of every KFC restaurant is special, this was extra special because it was also the 800th KFC restaurant in Australia. After a Welcome to Country ceremony, Kristie Woolrych, General Manager KFC SOPAC, thanked all of those involved in bringing this restaurant to life, and then it was time to cut the ribbon and pronounce the store officially open for trade. To recognise this momentous event, 800 Zingers and 800 cans of Pepsi were given free to our first 800 hungry customers. There was also KFC merchandise and a Spin the Wheel game for various prizes. This new Oran Park store is a shining example of KFC’s evolution alongside its communities. This isn’t just another KFC; it’s a state-of-the-art 62-seat restaurant designed for comfort and efficiency. With a dual-lane drive-thru to serve our fast-paced lives and a separate entrance for our delivery partners, we’ve ensured a seamless experience for everyone. Our commitment to sustainability and technology is evident throughout this store. We’ve incorporated eco-friendly features like recycled materials, 20KW solar panels to minimize our environmental footprint, and an advanced oil pump-out system for safe and responsible disposal. We’re not just serving great food; we’re doing so with a conscience. Innovation continues with built-in artificial intelligence in the drive-thru system, with future enhancements in customer service on the horizon. Our store also features digital kiosks, LED menu boards, and interactive screens—all designed to provide an engaging, efficient, and enjoyable experience for our customers. None of this would have been possible without the dedicated efforts of many individuals. A heartfelt thank you to our Franchisor, YUM, and our landlord for their unwavering support. We also like to extend our gratitude to architect Conrad, builder Tony and his team at RPM, Vijay and all the subcontractors and service consultants who played a crucial role in bringing this store to life. A special thanks to Sam Singh, Nirman Choksi, Navind Lal, Victoria McDonald and Ali Naghi for coordinating all the work behind the scenes and for making everything happen so flawlessly. A big thank you also to Shondelle Allison, her KFC Mt Annan team and all of Area 103 who helped in relocating members of their team to build a new team, the training of new employees and undertaking all the new store opening activities. The restaurant was swarming with so many excited and eager people to be part of the opening and to serve our hungry customers. Thank you to all Southern Restaurants departments – Operations, Development, P&C, Finance, and IT – for their assistance and hard work in helping navigate the new store opening process.
