Ballot measure information on California county websites

As of 2010, California had 58 counties and their election websites varied in the extent of information they made available to the public about local ballot measures. Eight counties, or 14 percent of California's 58 counties, provided no historical election results at all for local ballot measures, while Shasta County's website provided information about local ballot measures going back to 1970. Only Modoc County provided no election information for residents.
The county chart table below lists all of the counties in the state along with a simple evaluation of the county election website if available.

Historical information analysis
- The extent to which county election websites displayed historical information was unrelated to the population or budget of the county. Two small counties, Shasta and Tulare, had the most historical information.
- 32 counties provided historical information only for the last decade.
- 18 counties provided pre-2000 information.
- 8 counties provided no historical information.
- 13 counties had information that only went back as far as 2005. Taking these counties together with those counties with no information, 21 counties (or 36 percent of California's county websites) provided either no information or only recent information about local ballot measures.
