I am Carla (Coffee) Wright and I am running for the open

U. S. Senate seat in Missouri’s August 2, 2022 democratic primary election. Our campaign is fighting for economic empowerment, social justice, equality, education equity and access to adequate healthcare.

I am not a politician but I have been fighting for decades and I have been a voice for all Missourians. I was born and raised in Missouri and I was educated in public schools.

I am committed to keeping people safe in a raging pandemic as the owner of a COVID testing business that has trained and certified more than 25 independent contractors.

I am a state certified childcare facility director.

She knows what it is like to work hard on a job to make ends meet. As a union member for 34 years (SAG/AFTRA) she appreciates the contributions organized labor made to improve the quality of life for all people and will do all she can to protect those hard won gains when she is elected. Her fight for universal healthcare is personal.

The daughter of a disabled Vietnam veteran, she pledges to always honor and remember veterans service to the nation. Coffee also nursed her mother and grandmother for more than seven years. Both recently passed from Alzheimer’s disease.
Coffee strongly believes that power belongs to the people and not just the rich. Missouri is ready to move forward and not to be bought and sold by the highest bidder.
  • Let's provide universal free healthcare for all.
  • Creating sensible laws for gun ownership including waiting periods and raising the minimum age for purchasing and ownership.
  • We must codify Roe vs. Wade and protect women's reproductive rights.

I am passionate about protecting and expanding voting rights for all, including passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act; establishing real police accountability by passing the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act; and eliminating student loan and medical debt.

I look up to and would like to follow the example of my mother because she put other people's needs before her wants and desires.

Having the ability to vote on and create laws that are fair and advantageous to all people.

Our greatest challenges are eliminating racism, class and status so that we don't repeat our past.

Term limits should be required, thus opening the door for new and innovative people and ideas.

In all fairness it needs to be eliminated in order to pass effective legislation.

Note: Ballotpedia reserves the right to edit Candidate Connection survey responses. Any edits made by Ballotpedia will be clearly marked with [brackets] for the public. If the candidate disagrees with an edit, he or she may request the full removal of the survey response from Ballotpedia.org. Ballotpedia does not edit or correct typographical errors unless the candidate's campaign requests it.
