Campaign website

Hunt’s campaign website stated the following:

"

CHEYENNE WILL HOLD BIG TECH ACCOUNTABLE
Cheyenne is committed to reigning in Big Tech companies that have amassed too much power and influence over our economy, society, and democracy. In Congress, Cheyenne will support legislation to break up big tech monopolies, protect consumer privacy, and ensure fair competition. Cheyenne will work tirelessly to hold Big Tech accountable.

  • Pass an age-appropriate design code that would ban tech companies from using and abusing the personal information and location data of children online.
  • Regulatory oversight to control the use of AI and Deepfakes to influence and misinformed voters.
  • Protect and transition workers displaced by automation and AI.
  • Propose and expand upon the provisions in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) granting users specific.
  • rights and control over when and how their personal data is processed.
  • Break up big tech monopolies.

Our democracy relies on the communication and information spread through social media forums. A lack of data privacy continues to be a top concern and threat to American voters, as these forums are controlled by unaccountable billionaires who can manipulate the flow of information.

STRENGTHENING AND SAFEGUARDING OUR DEMOCRACY
Cheyenne maintains that the cornerstone of our nation is a strong, functioning democracy where every voice is heard and every vote counts. Witnessing the growing threats to our democratic institutions, she is unwavering in her commitment to protect the right to vote and ensure transparent and fair elections. In Congress, Cheyenne will support measures to safeguard the electoral process against interference, support stricter campaign finance laws to reduce the influence of money in politics, and make voting easier, not harder, through measures like automatic voter registration.

*Ensure an ethical government accountable to the people through comprehensive protections for voting rights. Expand election security and reduce the influence of money in our politics.

  • Support a constitutional amendment establishing an affirmative right to vote.
  • Ban Members of Congress and their spouses from owning and trading individual stocks.
  • Protect marriage equality for same-sex and interracial couples and formally remove Proposition 8 from California’s constitution.
  • Passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the Constitution which will guarantee women equal rights in the United States of America. The ERA consists of the following 24-word statement: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
  • Increase spending oversight and transparency for any office at the Pentagon that is unable to pass an audit.
  • Support legislation restoring the full weight of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, including empowering the Department of Justice with the authority to supervise changes to state election laws that result in discrimination against racial or language minorities and may purposefully or inadvertently limit voters’ access to the ballot.

ENSURING A STRONG ECONOMY AND CREATING NEW JOBS
The American Dream has been sold to the highest bidder and we are left to pay the price. Cheyenne is dedicated to fighting for working Californians, not big corporations. She will hold corporations accountable for cheating working families. Her focus is on establishing a fair tax system, ensuring the wealthy pay their fair share, and reducing the burden on working families. With prices rising, Cheyenne is committed to keeping more money in your pockets. Cheyenne will work to lower costs for essential goods and increase opportunities for our communities. In Congress, she will push for a living minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, and affordable child care. The lack of political representation of everyday Americans has empowered the insider class to dictate political and economic policy.

Corporations continue to make record profits yet pay little to no taxes to contribute to the growth of the overall economy. Moreover, the top one percent of individuals often pay lower tax rates than working families due to loopholes and other unfair tax codes. A functioning economy cannot develop in an unjust system where the wealthiest Americans can avoid paying like everyone else. Cheyenne is addressing these problems in the economy with bold and practical solutions that work for everyone, so we can build back the American Dream.

  • Support the PRO Act to make it easier for workers to form unions and bargain for their rights.
  • Establish the right of every public sector employee to join a union and bargain collectively.
  • Close tax loopholes and increase taxes on billionaires refusing to pay their fair share.
  • Eliminate disproportionate tuition and fees at public colleges, universities, and tribal institutions of higher education.
  • More oversight of Wall Street, more resources for regulators investigating financial crimes, and—if warranted—criminal prosecutions of financial industry executives who break the law.
  • Renew Glass Steagall legislation to restore the wall between commercial and investment banking to protect families' hard-earned savings from being used for high-risk Wall Street speculation.
  • Empower and provide resources for our antitrust agencies to regulate illegal corporate monopolies by price-gouging consumers.
  • Support efforts to expand and protect the Child Tax Credit.
  • Support efforts to ensure that any mega-corporation that benefits from federal subsidies or grants pays a living wage and implements responsible contractor policies to improve conditions for the workforce and people they serve.
  • Broadening access to training opportunities for early educators, contracts/grants for bedrock funding, and providing childcare workers with a living wage, benefits, and a path to parity with comparable elementary educators.

EXPAND ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE AND REDUCE PRESCRIPTION DRUG COSTS
Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Unfortunately, far too many individuals still lack affordable healthcare access. The rising costs of prescription drugs demand immediate action. In Congress, Cheyenne will work to lower healthcare costs by expanding healthcare access, empowering Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, and ensuring equal insurance coverage for mental health services.

  • Lower prescription drug prices, including capping the cost of insulin at $35.
  • Lift the ban on Medicare drug price negotiation and authorize Medicare to negotiate all drug prices on behalf of all Americans, including the uninsured.
  • Expand Medicaid home- and community-based services in order to help seniors and others in need of long-term care services remain in their homes and communities, including proposals to address the institutional bias in the Medicaid program.
  • Increase regulation and fiscal transparency in for-profit nursing facilities where there is currently little accountability for corporate provider practices, leaving these entities free to put profits over quality of care.
  • Prevent cuts to Disproportionate share hospital payments, increase funding for Graduate Medical Education, and reverse "site-neutral" payment policies that harm hospital budgets.

SECURING AFFORDABLE HOUSING, ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS, AND CURTAILING THE RISING COST-OF-LIVING
In a state where the cost of living continues to surge, Cheyenne believes that access to affordable housing is a cornerstone of a thriving community. Cheyenne maintains that no one should endure the uncertainty of homelessness or the burden of an unaffordable mortgage or rent payment. In Congress, Cheyenne will fight for substantial investment in affordable housing units and work to remove the barriers to housing construction and availability. She will prioritize expanding resources for our homeless communities, including mental health services, job training, and supportive community services. Cheyenne is committed to ensuring that housing security is not a privilege for the few but a fundamental right for all.

  • Establish an affirmative right to housing.
  • Fight for more affordable housing by cutting back on government red tape.
  • Federally subsidized Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) to establish permanent and affordable housing, accompanied by intensive supportive services such as case management and connections to substance use, mental health, and medical treatment.
  • Pass budgets aimed at new developments for the “missing middle” housing located near public transit
  • Advocate for accessible and safe public transit.
  • Support intervention programs for people on the verge of homelessness.
  • Balanced rental assistance programs providing targeted support for families on the verge of homelessness.

We need to establish an accessible housing market that serves people over landlords and investors. Removing application fees, fines for landlord corporations that unlawfully withhold rental deposits, and limiting the amount rent can be raised each year. Furthermore, the threat of large equity firms buying land to create permanent rental markets cannot be understated. Increase the number of affordable housing units required for new land developments in order to receive government contracts. By expanding the role of unions in infrastructure developments, we reduce the inefficient and expensive waste expended on private contractors, which offer low wages and poor working conditions and, thus, unsurprisingly, lower quality work. By bolstering the effort to unionize California, we can regrow the power of the working class, establish stronger protections that impact all industries, and drive down infrastructure costs. A new focus on greenspaces and green roofs, particularly in underprivileged communities, will reduce the significant harm of environmental racism while establishing a carbon capture system within our cities.

CHEYENNE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR BASIC RIGHT TO DETERMINE OUR OWN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE CHOICES.
The assaults on abortion accessibility and reproductive healthcare throughout the nation are attacks on our fundamental freedom as Americans to make our own healthcare decisions. These actions have profound and harmful consequences for women, families, and healthcare providers.

As a young woman, Cheyenne knows personally how terrifying it is that her generation has fewer rights than their mothers did. If elected to Congress, Cheyenne will be a staunch advocate, challenging Republican anti-choice extremists like her opponent and championing the right to decide when, where, and how to start a family.

Millions of women are facing the consequences of a radical and unprecedented decision by six Supreme Court Justices. We need new leaders and fresh perspectives in Congress with experience working to pass life-saving legislation.

Cheyenne supports and will work to pass the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA). The WHPA is federal legislation that creates new legal protection for the right to provide and access abortion care, free from medically unnecessary restrictions and bans on abortion. Cheyenne has the federal policy experience and insight necessary to pass the legislation we need to rebuild the rights stolen from our future. Additionally, the surge in demand by out-of-state patients in states with legal abortion access is causing shortages and interruptions of care that require immediate attention and increased federal funding. Furthermore, she will work to remove both the Hyde Amendment language from federal programs.[2]
