J. Christopher "Chris" Peters is the judge of the 28th Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected to this position on October 4, 2008.[1][2] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[3][4]

Peters ran for a seat on the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal in 2016.[5] The seat was held by Peters' father, Judge Jimmie Peters, heading into the election. Jimmie Peters did not filed to stand for re-election.[6][7] Chris Peters was defeated in his bid for the seat.

Peters earned his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Law Center in 1994.[8]

Career

Peters is a former assistant district attorney. He was elected to the district court in 2008.[9]

Peters filed to run for a seat on the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal, First District, Division B, in 2016. He faced Van H. Kyzar on November 8.
