Jeff Dewey
Jeff Dewey (Republican Party) is a judge for Division 21 of the Kansas Eighteenth Judicial District. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.
Dewey (Republican Party) is running for re-election for the Division 21 judge of the Kansas Eighteenth Judicial District. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. He advanced from the Republican primary on August 6, 2024.
Dewey was appointed by Republican Governor Sam Brownback on August 3, 2016. Dewey filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Douglas R. Roth.[1]
Biography
Dewey received a bachelor's degree from Wichita State University and a J.D. from Washburn University School of Law. His professional experience includes working as an attorney at the private practice of Dewey & Lund.[1]

Kansas held retention and partisan elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 2, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was June 1, 2016.[2] Jeff Dewey ran unopposed in the Kansas Eighteenth Judicial District, Division 21 general election.[3]

Selection method

In 14 of the districts of the Kansas District Courts, judges are chosen in partisan elections.[4] These judges serve four-year terms and run for re-election at the end of their terms.[5]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:[5]
- a state and district resident;
- a member in good standing of the state bar for at least five years; and
- under the age of 70. If a sitting judge turns 70 while on the bench, he or she may serve out the term.
