I grew up in a blue-collar, union family just outside of Flint. My parents taught me the value of hard work and the importance of providing for a family. I worked my way through college, graduating from Central Michigan University with a BS in Community Development and Public Administration. I’ve spent much of my career in the nonprofit sector and currently work in development for the Williams Syndrome Association, a national nonprofit based in Troy. As a member of Hazel Park’s City Council, I’ve been able to be an integral part of community building. Whether fielding an inquiry on social media or being approached at the grocery store, I am proud to be accessible and responsive to the people I represent. I’ve built a reputation as a person who listens to concerns and gets things done. From protecting our water to helping our working families and economy rebound from the pandemic, your priorities are my priorities. As your voice in the Michigan Legislature, I need to hear from you about what matters most in your neighborhood and community. Let’s do this—together.

  • I’ve built a reputation with constituents as a person who listens to concerns and gets things done.
  • We need someone in Lansing that understands and respects local government so that your elected leaders at all levels can collaborate effectively to better the lives of everyone in the district, no matter where you live.
  • Government should be about putting people first, especially in times of crisis, and I’m committed to focusing on our citizens and their needs above all.

We must destigmatize mental illness and make care affordable and available when people need help, whether in times of crisis or for routine care.
Every kid in Michigan deserves a great public education and providing that is a priority. This starts with affordable or free childcare and preschool for all kids and continues on through making college and technical training affordable and accessible.
I will fight for voting rights and oppose every effort to disenfranchise voters or to place barriers between voters and their ballots.

I look up to my parents. They have always set a good example for me to follow. Being hard-working, reliable, and trustworthy is what they are known for and why I look up to them.

The first historical event that I remember was the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. I was 11 years old. It had a profound effect on me because I had always wanted to be an astronaut.

I couldn't wait to turn 16 and get a job. My first job was at Mcdonald's. I worked there for about 6 years.

The ideal relationship is one of respect and cooperation. We might not always agree, but at the end of the day, we have to work together for the betterment of our state for all Michiganders.

I believe our state's greatest challenge over the next decade is modernizing our infrastructure. From replacing lead pipes to updating our power grid, we must tackle this monumental task.

I believe it is beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government. In my hometown of Hazel Park, I’m a member of the city council and Mayor Pro Tem. I’m excited to take my local experience to Lansing. It’s easy to forget the things that affect our everyday lives when you haven’t worked in your community. For too long the partnership between state and local government has been lacking. We need someone in Lansing that understands and respects local government so that your elected leaders at all levels can collaborate effectively to better the lives of everyone in the district, no matter where you live.

Building relationships with other legislators no matter party affiliation is vital to getting things done. We must all work together for our state to be successful and a place where families thrive.

The Citizens Redistricting Commission. An independent, non-partisan process is key to creating a government that more accurately represents the people of our state.

Local Government and Municipal Finance, Workforce, Trades, and Talent, and Health Policy

Yes. COVID-19 has been an earth-shattering reminder of how much we need one another, and I’ve been working with my colleagues across the aisle to support our citizens, communities, and institutions as we recover. I have worked hard to push my community forward on issues of funding for our firefighters, advocating for inclusion and respect, and working collaboratively with anyone who cares about helping our area and our neighbors thrive.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Michigan

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
