Robert Jaros
Robert Jaros is the Colorado Controller. Jaros assumed office on May 1, 2013.
Jaros was appointed by the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Personnel for an unfixed term beginning May 1, 2013.[1] Jaros served as deputy controller for four years before being tapped to lead the state controller's office. Jaros was appointed to replace David McDermott, who had held the position since April 2008. McDermott resigned in order to assume his new role as Director of the Colorado Financial Reporting System Implementation.[1]
Prior to entering state employment as an auditor for the department of labor and employment, Jaros parlayed his academic credentials to gain experience in the private sector. He has worked as an auditor, controller, general counsel and chief financial officer.
As the controller is a permanent employee of the state, Jaros is not subject to periodic reappointment.
Biography
Jaros is a CPA, businessman and lawyer. He earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and an MBA from Columbia University. In addition, Jaros received his J.D. from the University of Detroit and is licensed to practice law in Colorado.[2]
Jared is affiliated with a number of committees and organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Denver County Bar Association and the IRS Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Governmental Organizations, of which he serves as a representative.[2]

Jaros has served as Colorado Controller since May 1, 2013. He succeeded David McDermott, who retired from the position after five years to become director of the Colorado Financial Reporting System Implementation. Jaros was deputy controller under McDermott prior to his appointment.

Jaros was appointed Colorado Controller by the executive director of the Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration on April 17, 2013, to take over as state controller following the retirement of former officeholder David McDermott. Jaros officially assumed the role on May 1, 2013.[2][3] He is not subject to periodic reappointment.
