Today, we announced Canada’s largest Indigenous equity agreement. Working with the Government of Alberta, Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation and a consortium committee representing Indigenous Communities in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, we have entered into a $1B equity interest purchase agreement with an Indigenous-owned investment partnership for ownership of Canada’s largest natural gas pipeline network. This historic transaction demonstrates Indigenous Peoples want to be part of Canada’s energy industry and its bright future, and an example of what’s achievable when Indigenous Communities, government and industry come together. As our summer students and interns head back to school, they're taking new memories and invaluable skills into the next chapter of their careers. They gained hands-on experience, learned on the job, and brought fresh perspectives that strengthened our team. Here's a great example of energy problem solving in action! Our team of #EnergyProblemSolvers used this dual Remote Tecno Plug® from STATS Group at our Burton Creek Compressor Station to isolate a localized section of 36-inch natural gas pipeline during recent maintenance. Implementing this innovative pipeline isolation technology improved pipeline safety, reduced our GHG emissions by 38,860 tonnes — equivalent to taking 6,863 cars off the road for one year! — and shortened operational downtime compared to similar work. This first-of-its-kind installation was not only beneficial to this project, but will serve as a model for future applications across North America. #EnergyProblemSolvers #PipelineMaintenance #Innovation
