#KUKA relies on 5G The KUKA site in Augsburg will rely on the 5G campus network in future, allowing wireless technology to flow into product development and system planning. 5G is perfect for the #networking of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in particular, as previous wireless technologies such as WLAN or 4G are often not sufficient. Transmission rates are often too low, whereas 5G promises above all a high bandwidth paired with high #reliability. In Augsburg, KUKA has already equipped a test facility with 5G technology. Here, the Smart Production Centre demonstrates how different products - from washing machines to car body parts - can be produced in one and the same system. Automated sealing process at #Daimler Previously, adhesives and sealants were applied to the bodywork manually by employees , which was a time-consuming and, above all, strenuous process. However, #KUKA has found an innovative #solution to optimise seam sealing.    The solution: sensitive lightweight robot meets #industrial robot KUKA combines the sensitive lightweight robot KUKA LBR iiwa with the six-axis industrial robot KUKA KR 60. This fusion makes it possible to easily reach seams on the car body that are difficult to access. The LBR iiwa takes over the non-ergonomic task of spreading PVC seams and thus relieves the strain on employees. Thanks to its sensitivity, it recognises contacts, reduces the speed and force and distributes the PVC materials extremely thinly to the relevant areas. Thanks to KUKA's innovative automation solution, the corrosion protection and tightness of Mercedes-Benz bodywork is now more efficient and reliable than ever before. At the Ramah Water Factory in Saudi Arabia, several KUKA robots work efficiently "arm in arm" to sort, bundle and palletize water bottles - based on the solution from MEMCO - at an impressive speed of up to 81,000 bottles per hour! 💧🦾    Two KR 40 PAs carry out the important preliminary work by positioning the water bottles precisely on a conveyor belt. The KR 700 PA, a robot for heavy loads, then takes over, gripping the packaged bottles securely and lifting them onto the pallets. Finally, a KR QUANTEC PA carefully places a carton as an intermediate level to the individual layers.    This state-of-the-art automation solution makes palletizing considerably faster and can be easily controlled by employees at the touch of a button. Automation in the #construction industry opens doors The immense demand for living space, coupled with a shortage of skilled labour and rising property prices, has had a significant impact on the property industry in recent years. Global tensions and problems with supply chains pose major challenges for the construction industry. Automated modular house construction by #KUKA aims to move the construction site to the factory. Whether wood or steel, in future robots will support the workers in building the houses, reducing construction time and costs while optimising logistics. By maintaining the highest quality standards, production in the factory is more resource-efficient and, above all, independent of weather conditions. But houses from the assembly line do not mean that all houses are the same and impersonal. Modular construction means that homes can be customised to meet the wishes of customers and different building regulations.
