Death of Hailey Owens

A tragic death indeed; however there is nothing extra to give it notability per WP:NEVENT, which says that most crimes/deaths are not notable even if widely reported. Mostly local news coverage. Galobtter (pingó mió) 07:31, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. Should be renamed to Murder of Hailey Owens (holding off in order to avoid messing up AfD), now that murderer has been convicted and sentenced to death. Most murders are not notable. This one is, per WP:NCRIME - As with other events, media coverage can confer notability on a high-profile criminal act, provided such coverage meets the above guidelines and those regarding reliable sources.. In this case - we have WP:SUSTAINED national-level media coverage (in addition to the copious Missouri and Kansas coverage). This was nationally covered in 2014, and against in 2017: e.g. [1] and in 2018: [2], [3]. We have WP:SUSTAINED, WP:INDEPTH, WP:CONTINUEDCOVERAGE, WP:DIVERSE WP:SIGCOV.Icewhiz (talk) 12:13, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Keep my news archive search shows WP:INDEPTH, WP:GEOSCOPE, WP:DIVERSE, WP:CONTINUEDCOVERAGE of multiple aspects of the case (demolition of house where murdered child was found; murderer's large cache of arms; murderer's large child porn collection; plus coverage of memorials, protests and park named in honor of murdered child, and of trial.) Note also that Hailey's Law is still an active bill in the Missouri legislature: 2 years later, family of Hailey Owens still waits,Harrison, Keegan. Springfield News Leader; Springfield, Mo.
