Jujutsu Kaisen, the dark fantasy shonen series by Gege Akutami, is getting a tasty sidekick. McDonald’s has partnered with the popular anime franchise to offer a new variety of chicken McNugget sauce inspired by the series.

The Special Grade Garlic Sauce is a combination of soy sauce and garlic for a sweet and tangy flavor that is inspired by the Black Garlic Sauce available in McDonald’s locations in Japan. Starting on July 9, 2024, the sauce will be available for a limited time exclusively through the McDonald’s App.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga debuted in March 2018, introducing a world in which negative emotions turn into evil beings called Curses. The story follows Yuji Itadori, a 15-year-old boy who becomes host to a powerful curse. With the help of curse expert Satoru Gojo, Yuji learns to harness the power of the curse to become a hero of humanity. The manga was adapted as an anime in 2020, and since then, there have been two seasons with a third on the way.

Eight Jujutsu Kaisen characters appear on the sauce packages, including Yuji and his infamous foe Ryomen Sukuna. Satoru and Yuji’s schoolmates Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki are also featured on the packaging.

McDonald’s app users who purchase the Special Grade Garlic Sauce will also get access to a 30-day free trial period of Crunchyroll.

This is the second manga/anime campaign that McDonald’s has run in 2024. In March, the fast food restaurant flipped for manga titles by introducing WcDonald’s dipping sauces.
