Dear friends, INSCIENCE, in collaboration with the National Antarctic Scientific Center, is launching a fundraiser for the “military penguins” 🐧 The “military penguins” are polar explorers who have been defending Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. We launched this fundraiser specifically for the largest popular science and deep tech conference in Ukraine, INSCIENCE Conference, which will be held on September 7-9. The program will include interviews with polar explorers and broadcasts from the Akademik Vernadsky station. In a special photo zone with penguins, you can take a photo for a donation; all money will also go to the “military penguins” fundraiser. 👉🏻 In total, we plan to raise 500,000 UAH to support the needs of military personnel Oleksandr Knyzhatko, Artem Ihnatenko, Ihor Artemenko, and Mikhail Nabokin, who are currently stationed in Kharkiv, northern and southern locations. Oleksandr and Artem spent the winter in the 26th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition, Ihor in the 25th, and Mykhailo participated in several seasonal expeditions. Our goal is to buy Dji Mavic 3Pro, Starlink, Bandera Power and EcoFlow power staitions, Trench EW. 📌Our target is UAH 500,000

The prestigious British "Journal of Physiology" has published the latest scientific article by biologist, Hero of Ukraine Bizhan Sharopov, which he wrote together with colleagues from the Bogomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine — “Contribution of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channel to cholinergic contraction of rat bladder smooth muscles”: https://lnkd.in/dbnCZQwx. The article contains the results of the latest research by Bizhan and his colleagues, a brief biographical note about the scientist, and a photo portrait of him in combat gear. 📌 Bizhan is a Hero of Ukraine, a researcher at the Department of Neuromuscular Physiology of the Bogomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and a candidate of biological sciences. He died a brave death in the spring of 2022 in the Kharkiv region, defending Ukraine from the Russian army. In 2023, Bizhan's friends, military officer Roman Nabozhniak and colleague Daria Paramonova, established the Bizhan Sharopov Memorial Scholarship for postgraduate students to intern in the world's best laboratories. The first scholarship recipient, Victoria Plygun, recently completed her internship at the Institute of Chemistry of the Polish National Academy of Sciences in Poznan. She is preparing to write a scientific article based on the material she collected during her internship.
