The third and final day of the International Coalition of Girls' Schools conference saw more fascinating talks by educators shaping the future of girls’ education. This included Norwich High School for Girls GDST Head, Alison Sefton, who spoke about the power of networking in her session ‘No Head is an Island’, and James Mutton, Deputy Head Digital Innovation and Curriculum at Putney High School, whose talk on future skills focused on how they’re increasing the number of girls taking computer science. Check out @GDSTgirls on our Instagram channel for highlights of our speakers' sessions and from across the entire conference. #ICGS2024 #AdvancingGirlsEducationGlobally #girlsschools #girlseducation #GDST #GDSTdifference #WhereGirlsLearnWithoutLimits

It’s a wrap! Three days of the International Coalition of Girls' Schools GARC programme in-person training have now come to an end. Great learning for the cohort of 2025 and opportunities for C’24 to share their wisdom and experience as well as rehearse their own presentations. What a joy to discover the impact of this programme on teacher development, as illustrated in an example of the “I used to think and now I think” routine here:

Day 2 of the International Coalition of Girls' Schools conference in Baltimore began with a 🎵 bang - a musical performance from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Orch Kids! This was followed by a session with conductor Maron Alsop and how music can create opportunities and environments to nurture children to be the best they can be. The day continued with more brilliant talks, including sessions led by a number of our GDST Heads and teaching staff from across our 25 schools. Yesterday was Day 1 of the International Coalition of Girls' Schools conference in Baltimore. Over 600 educators and advocates for girls' schools across 12 countries are in attendance. We were so pleased that over 20 GDST colleagues were able to travel across the pond for this amazing three-day event and that we have been given the opportunity to impart our own insights and knowledge into girls' education, and the evolving educational landscape, from our expert speakers. Bring on Day 2! #Girlsschools #GirlsEducation #WhereGirlsLearnWithoutLimits #GirlsFutures #GDSTdifference #Education

Meet the latest cohort of the ICGS Global Action Research Collaborative (GARC) on Girls’ Education! These dedicated educators from around the world are diving into an 18-month journey of action research, beginning at the ICGS Conference in Baltimore. Action research empowers teachers to study their own classrooms to improve their effectiveness. Before conducting their research, Fellows receive hands-on training from ICGS research advisors. This year’s focus explores empowering students to believe in themselves and their role in their own learning journey. The overwhelming challenges girls face today – from eco-anxiety to university admissions – can stifle agency and yield responsibility in the learning process. From engaging in discussions with authority to questioning and challenging stereotypes, how are girls developing student agency in the classroom? GARC Fellows will explore learning concepts and teaching methods to build adaptability and autonomy and encourage healthy decision making and reflection in girls. Interested in joining these passionate educators in conducting your own classroom research? GARC is open to all teachers at ICGS member schools, regardless of research experience. Apply by October 11, 2024, and learn more at https://lnkd.in/gahdTk_Z #ICGSConference
