Our thoughts are with all affected by the shocking events in Southport yesterday, particularly with the families of those involved and the emergency services. Merseyside Police are working hard to investigate what happened – it’s vitally important not to speculate at this time.

Bringing together Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral to provide strategic governance and support economic growth. Working With Us We’re looking for people with the passion to deliver on our vision and help us to create a truly global and competitive city region which works for everyone. Devolution brings real powers to make policy and investment decisions that suit our own needs. We have a historic opportunity right now, with our city region growing faster than any other combined authority area, huge investment in infrastructure, and an unrivalled quality of life, with excellent cultural and leisure opportunities and affordable living costs. Yet, like all post-industrial cities, we need to work hard to ensure the benefits of growth reach everyone who lives and works here. We will invest more than £500m in the next four years, in projects which create social value and support our inclusive economy agenda, across transport, housing, skills and adult education, the social economy, business growth, innovation, land and property. Where else could you be working on projects as diverse as a £460 million investment to introduce a brand new fleet of state-of-the-art trains, a new approach to tackling homelessness, or an ambitious plan to harness the tidal power of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay to create plentiful, predictable, renewable electricity? If you think that sounds exciting, you’re right, and we want to hear from you.

Liverpool is joining forces with other parts of the city region to light up as a mark of respect and solidarity with everyone affected by the tragic incidents which took place earlier this week in Southport. St George's Hall, Liverpool, Liverpool Town Hall and Cunard Building will all be bathed in pink, along with other landmarks including ACC Liverpool and Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust from Friday 2 August – Sunday 4 August. Sefton Council has issued an open invite to other public and privately owned buildings across the North West to also illuminate if they can do so to show their support and join in a united display of peace, solidarity and remembrance. Liverpool City Council Leader, Cllr Liam Robinson, said: “There is no doubt that these are testing times – but as we struggle to come to terms with, and process what has happened, it is vital we stand together, and allow the police and others the time and space to do their job.” #SouthportTogether 💗 Merseyside Police | Liverpool City Region Combined Authority | Merseyside Police Commissioner | Jacqui McKinlay | Matthew Ashton | Nuala Gallagher | Jenny Turnross | Ian Williams | Claire McColgan CBE | Camilla Mankabady

#InnovatingForGrowth | Our Corporate Plan is a blueprint for making the Liverpool City Region the best place to grow up, grow a family, and grow a business. An important part of that vision is providing a modern, integrated public transport system that’s quick, convenient, affordable, accessible to all and that provides a genuine alternative to the car. That’s why Mayor Steve Rotheram decided last year to franchise buses – giving greater public control over fares, routes and timetables. We are committed to delivering a fully franchised network by the end of 2027. To find out more 👇 https://lnkd.in/espabbY5

#InnovatingForGrowth | We’re determined to deliver a cleaner, greener future for the city region and the world. Our Mersey Tidal Power project would be the world’s largest and would harness the enormous power of the tides to give the city region vast amounts of clean, predictable energy for at least 120 years. Having decided to pursue a barrage, we’re now starting the formal planning process and have a target for delivering the full business case.

#LCRAnnualReview | We’ve invested hundreds of millions of pounds in the city region’s transport network over the last year – and that investment is set to continue as we strive to deliver a modern, integrated, publicly controlled public transport system that’s quick, simple, affordable and accessible to all. In December we announced a £26m investment in the first new Mersey Ferry in more than 60 years that will be built on the banks of the river at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead. The move ensures the future of the world-famous Mersey Ferries for generations to come. Find out more 👇 https://lnkd.in/ggNKc6jQ
