That way education becomes a pleasure. If the child doesn’t learn the way you teach, start teaching the way they learn" says Oasis Founder, Steve Chalke.  Oasis St Martins Village, opening in Sept, is our early response to the government's proposal for youth hubs. The government has said it wants to “intervene earlier to stop young people being drawn into crime, creating a new young futures programme with a network of hubs reaching every community. These hubs will have youth workers, mental health support workers and careers advisers on hand to support young people’s mental health and avoid them being drawn into crime.”

🎉🎉🎉Our fantastic Mental Health Team have been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award in the 'Nursing in Mental Health' category! "This year has seen our National Mental Health Team respond and support over 900 pupils with their mental health; many of whom were on CAMHS waiting lists or had been discharged at point of referral. We do with and not to…we don’t have a script, we allow each pupil to map their treatment and we always work alongside the family and the educators at the same time to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach. I am absolutely delighted that we get to encourage and inspire others to do more with what they have. Compassion and connection before correction. 🎉 Celebrating ten years of Oasis Farm Waterloo! 🥳 In partnership with Jamie's Farm we've been offering farming therapy for children within Oasis academies and further afield who are struggling academically, socially, and emotionally. We've had incredible results: 🧠 61% of our young have reported improvement in mental wellbeing; and 58% reported higher self-esteem since being at the farm. 📝Prior to visiting the farm, 68% of our young people were not on track in core subjects. After visiting the farm, this number has decreased to 30%. 👥 Of our young people coming to the farm in the 2020/21 school year, 43% were reported as at risk of exclusion. By our 6 week follow-up, 66% of those were no longer at risk. What was once a strip of underused and littered land ten years ago has become a flourishing community resource and a haven. This is a space where all can learn to care for ourselves, others, plants, animals, and the environment. Last week, we held a youth voice workshop at Oasis Academy Hadley with young people from Hadley and Enfield, supported by The Children's Society and funded by the NCS - National Citizen Service Trust. We explored what it means for young people to have a voice, upskill, and have their voice heard! With a new government now in place, we call on The Labour Party to take youth voice seriously! ✨ Our Staff Spotlight this week is Jon Needham, our phenomenal director of safeguarding, who has committed to taking on our Oasis Abseil on October 5th! ✨ "A couple of months ago I helped out on a school trip to a PGL activity centre and spent the weekend encouraging a group of year 7 pupils to overcome their fears by abseiling down a 10 meter wall - whilst all the time hoping they didn't challenge ME as I would have been too scared to try. 😨 So I have decided to celebrate life and push my limits and have volunteered to abseil down the 200 foot front of Senate House in London (if 007 in 'No Time to Die' can do it then so can I). 😎 The work the Oasis Charitable Trust does to support and strengthen communities through their food pantries, advice and guidance centres and delivery of youth work to the most vulnerable deserves support, and if me dangling on the end of a rope until someone helps me down can raise funds to continue this work - then what better reason to fundraise!" 💯🎉 Want to support Jon as he conquers his fears?
