🚨 CALL ON THE UK GOVERNMENT TO ACT NOW In Gaza, children are being bombed, starved, and subjected to a living hell. And still it goes on. The new UK government has said it's committed to upholding international law - but to do so means taking urgent action to address the hellish situation for children in the occupied Palestinian territory. Join us in calling on Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy to: 🔴 Suspend all arms exports and licenses to the Government of Israel. 🔴 Do everything in their power to end the siege on Gaza. 🔴 Hold all perpetrators of grave violations against children to account. 🔴 Call for the release of all Palestinian children arbitrarily detained. 🔴 Demand an end to the Israeli occupation. There's now been 500 days of conflict in Sudan. 500 days of unimaginable loss, of physical and emotional distress, of prevalent violations of children’s rights. Today, 14 million children in Sudan need support to overcome the horrifying impacts of this conflict. They need: 🚨 An immediate ceasefire and a comprehensive peace process. 🚨 A mammoth surge of humanitarian support. We’ve worked in Sudan since 1983 and provide support for children and families affected by conflict, displacement, extreme poverty and hunger. Today, we are one of the largest international NGOs in Sudan, providing a range of services to protect children’s lives and rights. 🔴 Today, we’re running mobile health clinics, providing cash grants to families to help them buy food, medicines and other essentials. 🔴 We’re also setting up safe spaces for children to play. When we identify cases of children with severe signs of trauma, they receive specialised psychological care. 🔴 In 2023, we supported 2.4 million people in Sudan with health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, education, child protection, food security and livelihoods support. 🔴 This involved reaching over 1.4 million people, including 979,000 children with critical humanitarian assistance. Cleaning up for a greener future 🪣🌎🧼 We partner with schools in economically disadvantaged areas of the UK – like this one in Margate – to help children to be creative and connect them with the natural world. Children at this school have a deep affection for their coastline, want to protect sea creatures and maintain a clean, safe beach. Environmental issues and climate change are integral parts of their curriculum – they're doing a fantastic job, and have even taken the lead in organising beach clean-ups and litter-picking. This harsh reality has brought serious challenges for Emran and his family, who rely on the land for their livelihood. Emran’s experiences have fueled his passion for climate action. Recently, he traveled to Nairobi with Save the Children to speak at a climate summit, determined to advocate for a better world. Olivia is only 5 years old but raised over £500 at her coffee morning 👏❤️ Her parents were speaking about other children and said that not everyone was as fortunate as she was. Olivia was really taken aback. She kept telling her parents that she wanted to do something to help, like build a house or a school. They decided on a coffee morning where Olivia and her mother made a bunch of different cakes and invited family and friends to come over. On behalf of all children, THANK YOU, Olivia!

Watching the news, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the numbers and sheer scale of the death and destruction in Gaza. But paediatric nurse Becky Platt has an important message that puts these figures into perspective. "Remember that each one of those numbers is a child, who has forever been changed by what's happened." We travelled across the UK, placing billboards in key MPs' constituencies, to show them the faces of real children impacted by the #2ChildLimit. These children endure the effects of this policy every day, join us in demanding the policy's removal at the upcoming UK Autumn Budget.

Gaza has recorded its first polio cases in 25 years - without urgent action an entire generation is at risk of infection, and hundreds of children face paralysis.   The reemergence of this virus is a direct result of the destruction of water and sanitation infrastructure, and the Government of Israel's restrictions on repairs and supplies. Coupled with overcrowding, displacement, and a crippled healthcare system, these actions have created an environment ripe for the spread of the virus in Gaza. There is no cure for polio, it can only be prevented.   We have joined forces with aid agencies and medical professionals to call urgently for a ceasefire to allow life-saving polio vaccinations to be administered to children in Gaza. #polio #gaza #stopthewaronchildren #ceasefirenow
