Working to end domestic abuse, sexual violence and all forms of violence against women
Über uns
Welsh Women’s Aid is the national charity in Wales working to end domestic abuse and all forms of violence against women. We are a federation of specialist organisations in Wales (working as part of a UK network of services) that provide lifesaving services to survivors of violence and abuse – women, men, children, families – and deliver a range of innovative preventative services in local communities. We have been at the forefront of shaping coordinated community responses and practice in Wales since we were established in 1978. We do this by campaigning for change and providing advice, consultancy, support and training to deliver policy and service improvements for survivors, families and communities. We deliver services including the Live Fear Free Helpline funded by Welsh Government, a National Training Service, and we are piloting the Survivors Empowering and Educating Services (SEEdS) project, which is empowering survivors of violence and abuse to collectively influence and inform improvements in public services and commissioning frameworks and help change attitudes. We also deliver the Wales National Quality Service Standards (NQSS), a national accreditation framework for domestic abuse specialist services in Wales (supported by the Welsh Government) as part of a UK suite of integrated accreditation systems and frameworks. More information on the NQSS can be found here. Our success is founded on making sure the experiences and needs of survivors are central to all we do.

Welsh Women's Aid reposted this
Every year, we nominate a charity to donate our surplus funds to a worthwhile cause. For the year 2023-2024, our members chose Welsh Women's Aid, which aims to create a world where women and children live free from domestic abuse and all forms of violence. This week, our committee members Hayley Kneath DipFA, Karen Howell FCIM and Helen Corsi - Cadmore were delighted to present a cheque for £400 to Mwenya Chimba PhD. As we are run by volunteers and operate as a not-for-profit group, we are especially proud to support such an important cause. Stay tuned for the announcement of our chosen charity for 2024-2025! We also have exciting news for July! Join us for a Summer Social with a two-course lunch at Côte Brasserie in Cardiff. We hope many of our members and guests can join us on Wednesday 3 July at 12:30 PM, to round off our summer events before our August break. Can you join us?
