Gates Elementary School in Davison finished fifth in the annual Dimes for Diapers campaign to benefit the Flint Diaper Bank.

DAVISON, Mich. (WJRT) - Gates Elementary School in Davison spread a message saying people can accomplish a lot if everyone does a little bit.

Students filled baby bottles with their spare change to raise money for the Flint Diaper Bank as part of the annual Dimes for Diapers campaign. They finished fifth out of more than 40 Genesee County schools participating in Dimes for Diapers.

Students dug deep to help others by giving money from their piggy banks, collecting spare change and even giving up their own popcorn money to donate to families who can't afford to buy diapers for their babies.

Gates Elementary is among more than 40 schools in Genesee County participating in this year's Dimes for Diapers collection to raise money for the Flint Diaper Bank, which provides diapers to families who cannot afford them.

This year's ABC12 Diaper Drive in partnership with ELGA Credit Union is scheduled for May 31.
