Christina Burkhart is the Morning Meteorologist for ABC12 News This Morning and co-hosts 'Good Morning Mid-Michigan' at 9 a.m.
Christina joined the ABC12 team in July of 2014.
She has been awarded MAB, AP, and Michigan Emmy awards for her weather coverage and the educational and creative content in her forecasts.
If you're a University of Michigan football fan, you may recognize Christina as "mgoweather." She's been providing detailed forecasts for the games on mgoblog for over a decade.
Christina began her broadcasting career at WPBN/WGTU in Traverse City, MI as the weekend meteorologist and weekday multi-media journalist - covering everything from ice caves to fires to sports.
Christina earned her bachelor's degree in Earth Science/Meteorology at Michigan State University. After working as a research assistant for the University of Michigan, she completed an internship at WDIV in Detroit.
She went on to earn her master's degree in Geosciences, with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology, at Mississippi State University. She was one of two students in her graduating class to complete a thesis and the first on campus to bring together two departments for research.
Christina was also chosen for the MSU Great Plains storm chase and greatly enjoyed traveling around the country for over two weeks, seeing nearly 10 tornadoes. She was a member of the winning team competing in the University of Oklahoma National Forecasting Contest.
Christina was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Saline, Michigan.
When she is not at work, Christina enjoys being outdoors and is a big fan of exploring our state and national parks. She loves sports and spending time with friends and family, and her rescue cat, Uno.
