Kevin Goff

I'm a 24 year veteran at ABC12 News with nearly 35 years experience in broadcasting as a meteorologist and reporter.

Growing up in the metro Detroit area, I always marveled at Michigan's ever-changing weather and four seasons.

As a little kid, I used to call up the "time and temperature" number and write down the current conditions whenever a winter storm approached.

I watched a lot of local news and weather growing up and followed the likes of Jerry Hodak and Sonny Elliott.

When it came time to go to college, I thought I wanted to pursue a career in science, but not meteorology.

While at Western Michigan University pursuing my biomedical science degree, I was bitten by the weather bug once again, taking a general meteorology course.

That led to a student teacher weather lab position, as well as running the weather station, which included posting DIFAX maps which rolled off a drum of chemically treated paper. (early 1980s)

After graduation, I went down to Texas A&M to obtain my degree in meteorology, which Western didn't offer at the time.

From there, I traveled all over the country, working at tv stations in Texas, Nebraska, Georgia and Iowa, before finally returning to Michigan and ABC12 in the spring of 2000.

I currently live in the Flint area with my 2 rescue cats Hershey and Muffin.

Some of my interests include playing volleyball, softball, tennis, racquetball, table tennis, pickleball and fantasy football.

I'm also a decent baker.

Two of my specialties are cheesecake and blueberry coffee cake from scratch.
