Sheryl Coonan is a morning reporter at ABC12 News.
Sheryl Coonan joined the ABC12 News team in April of 2022.
From a young age, Sheryl knew she had a passion for news, storytelling and television. Sheryl grew up in Bay City and Beaverton before attending Central Michigan University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism. She lived in metro Detroit for over a decade and attended Wayne State University, earning a master’s degree in journalism.
Sheryl went on to host a TV show on Detroit Public Television, worked at a magazine in New York City as well as at FOX2 Detroit, reported for Cable15, ONTV News, Michigan Lawyers Weekly and a variety of other digital and print publications. She has also handled public relations, social media, human resources and internal and external communications for Fortune 500s and startups.
With a passion for connecting with people, Sheryl has always loved the live television life and spent four years as a live on-air spokesperson for the home shopping industry where she was invited into thousands of homes through TV.
Sheryl is thrilled to be back where she grew up and to be able to share stories of this wonderful community and all of the people she has met and yet to meet. When she isn’t working, Sheryl enjoys spending time with family and friends, popping into her family’s Irish pub, and trying out new restaurants as well as exploring her passions for fashion, yoga, wellness, beauty and travel.
