Two drivers clocked at over 100 mph on Zilwaukee Bridge

Michigan State Police pulled over two drivers traveling over 100 mph across the Zilwaukee Bridge in Saginaw County.

SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - Michigan State Police joked that the Zilwaukee Bridge was like a NASCAR track on Tuesday morning after troopers pulled over two drivers traveling well over 100 mph.

The first traffic stop involved a dark-colored sedan clock at 108 mph around sunrise Tuesday. The second stop involved a different vehicle clocked at 107 mph around mid-morning.

Michigan State Police say both drivers received hefty fines for their excessive speed.

The speed limit is 70 mph across the Zilwaukee Bridge, which spans more 8,000 feet over the Saginaw River at a peak height of 125 feet.

The Michigan State Police Third District Traffic Team is conducting a special patrol to target speeders on the bridge Tuesday.
