Carol Vorderman breaks silence on huge career news

Carol Vorderman has taken a swipe at the BBC after they neglected to inform people that she will be appearing at Glastonbury. The corporation posted an article on their website detailing more artists added to the festival lineup and stage times.

However, Carol couldn't help but notice they hadn't included her and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to ensure that fans were aware. "NEWS 'Glastonbury reveals more of line-up' BBC forgot to say I'll be 'performing' at Glastonbury in Left Field Tent must have been an oversight TORY WIPEOUT to the sound of 'Political Corruption' by The Resolution See u there Friday," she wrote. The Left Field Tent organisers describe it as "purveyors of pop and politics since 2002." It is currently run by well-known singer and activist Billy Bragg, who has posted a manifesto for the tent on the website.

"With the general election just a matter of months away, Left Field brings together activists, artists and agitators to address the issues that confront us in these troubled times: cost of living; housing; social cohesion; wars; accountability," it reads.

"Among our panelists are a number of Labour MPs who could be sitting in cabinet this time next year. Come along and let them know what kind of world you want to live in. Then stick around to get fired up by music that seeks to recharge your activism!"

The star also took aim at BBC bosses at the end of last month claiming she was "sacked within 24 hours" of breaking the BBC's strict guidelines on social media.

The outspoken broadcaster, who now hosts a show on LBC radio, took umbrage with being told what she was allowed to say when the broadcaster brought in new rules for its employees in September last year.

The crackdown was brought following the controversy over Gary Lineker's social media posts in an attempt to stop high-profile presenters expressing strong political views online.

Though Carol had hosted a radio show on BBC Radio Wales for five years, which she "loved", the 63-year-old said she was given the boot hours after "tweeting some stuff, knowing that I'd be in trouble" in November 2023.

In an interview with Radio Times, she gave more detail about her departure six months ago. "They [BBC] said, 'social media guidelines are such and such, you can't say this, you're not allowed to say that. You can't do this, you can't do that'," she said.

"So I tweeted some stuff knowing that I'd be in trouble for it. And sure enough, absolutely no conversation to be had, sacked within 24 hours.

"The BBC are the only organisation who impose what you can do when you're not broadcasting. Your private, non-broadcast opinion is meant to be... very quiet, let's say," she opined.

Not one to be silenced, in April Carol anounced she will be releasing her very first political book and will be undertaking a book tour later this year. Published by Headline the tome is called: OUT OF ORDER : What's Gone Wrong with Britain and One Woman's Mission to Fix It.

She described the book on social media writing: “A rip-roaring call to arms telling the web of political influence responsible for the UK's unravelling and how we can find our voice and stand up for what we believe in. I'm pulling no punches and telling some eye watering (and funny) tales you haven't heard before!!!" (sic)
